Utah’s Hogle Zoo will host its 20th annual World of the Wild art exhibit February 2 – March 17, 2013. The exhibit is free for all Zoo visitors with a paid Zoo admission. Most of the art work will be for sale with a percentage of the sales going back to support the Zoo’s art programs. This show was created with the idea of providing Utah artists an opportunity to display their works of wildlife and “wildnature” in a setting complementary to their work. Many feel this show is one of the best venues in Utah for viewing wildlife and nature art.
The Zoo’s prospectus states “Utah’s Hogle Zoo’s annual art show is a competition/ exhibition which is intended to encourage diverse artistic interpretation of the natural world. The goal of the exhibit is to bring together the works of serious, contemporary artists whose ideas might help us all gain a greater appreciation and concern for wildlife and wild places.”
I am honored to announce that a carved egg of my creation will be part of this year’s presented works. Which creation was selected will remain a unknown until the show opens. Be sure to check out the exhibit. I was fortunate enough to see some of the entries when I dropped off my work and I can say there will be many high quality pieces to view.
I want to express my gratitude to the staff of the zoo for offering this event, Lila Abersold, for giving of her time to jury this show, and to the many people who support me while I develop my talent.
