Inspiring Entrepreneurial Spirit

While sitting at an outdoor cafe in the city of Pazardzhik, Bulgaria, waiting for transportation to Velingrad, a boy approached the table with a sheaf of papers in his hands. He was visiting each table in turn and through my translator, I discovered that his name was Ivo and he was 10 years old. He was selling some of his drawings to earn money. I asked how much they were and he replied that I could pay what ever I wanted. My desire to see youth find success through art took over and I could not turn this young man away. Yes, I purchased one of his drawings (the one you see in the photo). He sees the value of his skills and wants to contribute to his success instead of expecting handouts from his parents. I applaud you young Ivo, I wish you all the best in your future. How I wish to find more artistic individuals who will work as hard as Ivo does.

I love this story, I believe Ivo will become an accomplished artist one day. The piece you bought Brian, just needs one more thing…. Ivo’s signature and date. I love his drawing!

  2. Hi June, I hope he will keep the energy and desire he shows now. If so he will indeed succeed. And for the record, I told him the same thing you said, he needs to sign and date his work. So the piece I bought is indeed signed. We found him a pen so he could claim his work.

  3. This young Ivo has a God-given talent. You are blessed to have crossed paths him. I hope you were able to show him a few pictures of what you do to help keep him inspired!!

  4. Hello Sondra, we did indeed talk about art and luckily I had a few photos on my phone so he could see what I do and why I was in his country.

Brian, Is it not wonderful to offer encouragement to new budding tatent. We in some way are passing it forward, preparing the next generation of new God given talent to the world.

  6. Sir Kent, it is indeed a wonderful thing to encourage artistic expression. This is one of my primary goals in life. Thanks for taking the time to comment

Brian Baity, I agree with you a thousand percent . I truly agree with you, that it is such a wonderful encouragement to a young person such as he. I remember as a very young girl how I was encouraged to learn how to draw by a neighbor who lived across the street from me. He would sit at his desk and draw beautiful pictures for a living. I, in turn would climb up the tree next to his window and watch him for hours. Little did he know how much he encourage me to become an artist. I have to admit I was a Tom Boy at the time.
I hope u remember me. I talked to u several times in Fla.
    Thanks, Joanie Beck
