October Demonstrations in Velingrad Bulgaria

Students from surrounding schools in Velingrad continue to visit the Museum far a first hand experience at carving an eggshell. Each is given a simple design on a chicken egg and some simple instructions to follow. When they are finished they get to take the egg home. I find it fun to watch the initial shyness disappear as the braver students find success with their egg. by the end of the hour many are asking to make more pieces. I hope this excitement for creative expression will continue throughout their lives.

When in Velingrad in 2011 for my exhibitions Maria Sharkova was the very first Bulgarian student to offer to translate for her classmates. Here she is 3 years later making a new creation.

The pics of the kids were nice but it would have been nice to see what they did as well.

  2. I tried but most of them were too shy to pose for real. I was lucky to get these children to let me photograph them. I will continue to try a finished photo. It is a simple design that we can do in just 2 or 3 minutes because there are often many children and very little time to get all the children through in the limited time they have while on their field trip. Thanks Steve for your support.

You’re welcome. As I wrote, they were nice. Possibly you could distract them with confections or stuffed animals animals. Well done and I look forward to more.
